It has become commonplace to describe our world today as a “global village” - understandably so, as an incident that occurs on the other side of the globe can be seen on this side in a matter of seconds. Thanks to modern technological advances, one is able to observe other nations and learn about other cultures simply by clicking on a mouse or activating the remote control. Of course, greater and more interesting interaction is possible through communication, which brings emphasis to bear on language learning. Language is the channel through which communication takes place. It is the roadmap that leads to our understanding and appreciation of other cultures.
