This course is aimed at providing a comprehensive knowledge based on how force in the society
has, and continues to influence the development of Education. Student teachers need to understand the dynamics/path education has traversed culminating to this point in the history of Jamaica. Moreover, coupled with such knowledge and understanding one needs to examine critically current trends in education. From such an examination they should be equipped to form judgments/ draw sound conclusions based on supportable information.
The central aim of this course is to develop teacher’s analytical interpretative and critical thinking skills especially as the students are exposed clinically to the history, philosophy and critical issues in education. The resultant benefit of the special emphasis for student-teachers to become more cognizant of their role and how they can positively impact on the delivery of education in Jamaica. Assessments will cover course work. Assessments categorized in individual portfolios and final examination.
